Mirkwood Elf Chief
Basename:
Mirkwood Elf
Brand:
Lele
Serial:
78051
Theme:
The Lord of the Rings
Biography:
The "Mirkwood Elf Chief" is a somewhat ambiguous figure in J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. He is never explicitly named in the main text, although it is commonly accepted that he is Thranduil, King of the Elves of Mirkwood.
As Thranduil, this character ruled the Woodland Realm in the northern part of Mirkwood. He was the son of Oropher, who led his people from Lindon to Mirkwood and fell in battle during the War of the Last Alliance against Sauron. Thranduil then assumed the kingship and established his kingdom in the caves and forests of the region.
During the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, Thranduil, as the Mirkwood Elf King, is depicted as a cautious and isolationist ruler, primarily concerned with the well-being and protection of his own people. He is known for his love of wine, feasts, and jewels. While not openly malevolent, he is wary of outsiders and can be perceived as proud and somewhat detached from the wider struggles of Middle-earth. Despite this, he is ultimately a force for good, allying with the other free peoples against Sauron in the War of the Ring.
